Program Description:
This course is designed for students who are preparing for careers in teaching and caring for young children, birth through age eight. The course provides a foundation in child development, family systems, child care management, and teaching at the early elementary level. Students plan and manage a campus child development lab program, and intern in community-based programs and area elementary schools. Students are given opportunities to study education and care systems in this country and abroad through linkages with other schools. The course has been designed with multiple entry and exit points so that students may enroll for one to four semesters, choosing work that matches their needs and future teaching plans.
Please visit Mr. Williams' blog for additional information.
Dual Enrollment:
Two semesters offer dual enrollment plans with Southern Maine Community College, and students can earn up to six college credits while taking classes on the PATHS Campus. Students must be aged sixteen to enroll in semesters that include internships in area schools, and students need minimum PSAT/SAT scores and a guidance counselor recommendation for dual enrollment college courses.
